About This Site

I’m Mogen Cui. I built ScriptureGen because I kept running into the same frustration: I’d want to find a verse about a specific topic, or just land somewhere random in the Bible, and every site I tried was either cluttered with ads, required an account, or took three clicks to get anywhere useful.

This started as a weekend project. I’m not a pastor or a seminary graduate — I’m someone who reads the Bible regularly and finds it endlessly interesting. What I can do is build things on the internet, so I combined the two.

What the Site Does

ScriptureGen is a random Bible verse generator and study tool. The core features:

  • Random verse generator — pulls from all 31,102 verses of the Protestant Bible, instantly
  • Topic filters — 20 curated themes including anxiety, love, faith, grief, protection, and more
  • Book and section filters — explore by testament, category (Gospels, Psalms, Paul’s letters), or individual book
  • Full-text search — find any word or phrase across BSB and KJV
  • Verse of the Day — one verse daily, the same for everyone, updated at midnight UTC
  • Occasion pages — curated scripture for Mother’s Day, graduation, Christmas, and other milestones
  • Translation comparisons — NIV vs ESV, KJV vs NIV, and others explained plainly

Everything is free, no account required, and the verse area itself is always ad-free.

About the Bible Study Content

The blog and study pages are written by me personally. I’ve spent years reading commentaries, doing word studies, and working through the text — not because I have a theology degree, but because I find it genuinely interesting.

When I write about a passage, I try to answer the question I actually had when I first read it: What does this actually say? Who was this written to? What does the original word mean? I don’t pretend to have all the answers, and where scholars disagree I try to say so honestly.

If you catch something factually wrong, please email me. I’d rather fix it than leave a bad explanation online.
